Nutrition Response Testing, NRT

​To be sure we are not throwing our money away on supplements, we use Nutrition Response Testing to see whether the body responds well to the supplement.

When we do Nutrition Response Testing* for your horse, we are looking for either…

  • PRE-DISEASE (potential problems) in your horse.

  • NAMED DISEASE (vet-confirmed problems) in your horse.

We help the horse to heal, or keep your horse well-maintained with nutritional supplements. This testing is done at your barn, usually in a tack-up or tie-up area.

Testing will include you creating samples of products you give to your horse.

Please create a sample baggie with a small amount (1/4 cup) of each item.
Label your baggies with the product name, ie: Regular grain per barn, Triple Crown – treat grain, Purina RepleniMash, Spruce Pets vitamin and mineral supplement.

  • Horse Initial Exam: $50

    + Barn fee (1X per visit)…$25

    2nd horse/same owner… $37.50
    (25% discount)

  • Horses Re-exam: $40

    + Barn fee (1X per visit)…$25

    2nd horse/same owner re-exam…$30

  • Friends and family are welcome to attend!

    Friends and Family Horse Exams - same barn and same day as your invitee*: 

    PRE-REGISTERED initial exam…$37.50
    SAME DAY REGISTRATION initial exam…$50

    *Please note: Horses must be kept in a stall or outside until their visit time so that there will be no distractions. An exception can be made if the horse is friends with the original horse owner initiating the NRT session, AND there will be no distraction. Two horses that are true friends may be in the same tack area, as long as there is no distraction.

  • With horses, expect a 45-minute exam.

    With dogs, expect a 45-minute to 1-hour exam. (see pricing for dogs/cats).

    With cats, expect a 15-minute exam. (see pricing for dogs/cats).

    With people, expect a 1-hour interview, plus time to fill out forms, and 30 to 60 minutes of nutrition testing. (People’s exams are confidential and private).

    • Nutrition Response Testing, NRT on a series of organs in the body
      (You will be able to SEE if part of the body tests poorly.)

    • Testing for supplement solutions to problems in your horse’s body
      (You will be able to SEE what makes your horse’s body strong and supported.)

    • Testing* the things that you feed or put on your horse
